A colleague approaches.
- Is that your girlfriend outside?
- She isn't my...., no....I think she'd be upset if she overheard that.
- Ah...is she your sister?
- No! She works downstairs, she just poked her head in to say hello.
- I see, I see. She's very nice.

Another hospital employee approaches.
- Do you think you could call your friend for me?
- My friend? Who?
- The girl. Downstairs.
- Why is that?
- I wanted to apologize that I couldn't take her to lunch.
- You...asked her out to lunch?
- Sort of, yeah....you like her, don't you?
- I think she's terrific, but she's...
- It's ok. I won't bother her if it makes you uncomfortable.
- ...
- You should call her anyway.

A casual acquaintance approaches.
- Your girlfriend is very pretty.  You look very good together.
- Wha...my....what?
- That girl, downstairs?
- Oh, no, she's just...a girl downstairs.  She's very good to me though, but she does have a boyfriend.
- She does appear very nice.
- Quite, she's pretty great.  I'm sure that's why she's taken.
- You know what I tell my son, if you really like someone you've got to try your hardest, right?  No matter what.
